Some of My Fantasy Terrariums

Good morning, everyone! I wanted to share some of my paintings so far along with some comments about them (I ramble a lot so I hope you like reading!). I'll also be entering in some of them into the student show and I'll probably pop them onto my social media later as well!

* * *

This first one is inspired by the story of King Arthur, as some of you might remember!

This next one is inspired by another story related to King Arthur. The idea is based on Sir Gawain, one of the Knights of the Round Table. There are some stories that say Gawain was a knight who was stronger in sunlight and weaker at night so this painting was kinda based on that.
Here we've got a retelling of a Greek myth. There are different variations of it but it's about the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. The long-and-short of it is that Eurydice was sent to the Underworld and Orpheus was given the opportunity to bring her back to the human world so long as he didn't turn back to look at her on their way out. He looked back and she was pulled back down, so he done goofed. The pot in this one is supposed to be a Greek urn. Orpheus is holding a lyre because he's the son of Apollo, a god who's all about music stuff.

Last one! This one is a work-in-progress I got sick of working on so I yoinked it off the board for now! It'll be a sort of retelling of Robin Hood. If the texture looks a bit strange, it's because I'm using iridescent inks and sparkly, mineral paints for highlights.

Other than that, I'm also working on one loosely inspired by Beauty & the Beast and have ideas for some based on other folktales.

Anyway, that's about all I've got for now. I haven't slept so I'll probably sleep for an embarrassing amount of time.

  1. Good job Megan, but i think you could work on making the figures stand out more. Think about contrast.

    1. Thanks, Brad! I'll definitely work on that! My favorite one of these is the second one (the orange & blue one) and it might be because it's more contrasted than the others. :)

      I'll definitely work on that though!
