Here is the zine I created based off of the quarantine existence prompt. I decided to write six poems about what I have been feeling during quarantine, and then create watercolor illustrations to accompany them. I scanned the watercolor illustrations and then tried to create a booklet/zine format on Microsoft Word that I could print off and fold. After several failures, I printed individual pages and then glued them together to create an actual handheld zine. I was not pleased with that outcome, so I decided to submit the final product in this format.
Regardless, this was one of my favorite assignments to date. I felt like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders once I created this. My soul needed it, and maybe yours does too. I hope you enjoy.

This is great! I think the layout actually works better in the blog format too, it is reminiscent of the Bahaus hanging methodology sometimes used in galleries. The use of a monochromatic scheme adds to the emotional content.
ReplyDeletethe black and white is very powerful, and the way you use placement and detail brings the viewer to the focal point. it gives me a soft depression and its a very beautiful illistartion.
