I like that the fence and the gazebo helps move the eyes from foreground to background in this one.
This one was my favorite to paint. The salt lift helped give the yard texture, but I probably go back and make the yard, and the sky, darker.
I like how the texture of the grass turned out in this one, but again, sky need to be darker, along with grass in background.
I was kind of mad that the salt lift did not take very well to this one. However the lines in the dirt do help to lead your eyes to the background.

Jamie, your implementation of salt to create texture within the foregrounds of the second and fourth paintings was a great choice. The addition of distinct value variances between the land farthest away and closer to the viewer would help to guide the eye across the expanse of the landscapes. Out of this series of studies, my personal favorite is the second painting. The salt lift on the subtle blue tones of the land is appealing to the eye – as are the two trees and shrub on the left. You did a great job developing those. Overall, you did wonderful with this assignment!
ReplyDeleteOverall these are working fine, you might want to saturate your colors more - don't hold back!
ReplyDeletei love your farm theme! and i also enjoy the way you used texture to define the dirt and other areas.
